I am just loving my maternity leave lately. Of course I have loved being off with my baby since she arrived back in October. It is however getting to be more fun though as each day passes. The older Hallie gets, the more personality she has and the more things she enjoys doing. It is a double edged sword though because with every fun day that passes, it is one day closer to when I am supposed to return to work…. more on that later! For now we just enjoy each day to the max and all of the moments it brings. Yesterday was one of our true, enjoying our time at home days. We laughed, we played, she cried, I cradeled, and of course, we crafted! I attempted to introduce Hallie to playing the drums; this consists of hitting a wooden spoon against some pots and pans. In hindsight, I am wondering why I thought this would be a good idea if she in fact took to making all that noise. Thankfully, she preferred to suck on the wooden spoon. It was quite exciting for her though I am not sure how good it felt against her budding new tooth. After a successful nap time (rarely happens) we tried out a new sensory game I saw on Pinterest. I put Tempera Paint into zip lock baggies and taped them to the screen door, nice and low where we could sit together. We touched and swirled the paint around and Hallie was completely mesmerized. Next time I will use some primary colors for the paint which will be a lot more interesting than brown and black, all I could find on a moment’s notice. I will also make sure the little princess has freshly trimmed nails – some very close calls there with those talons of hers! For the rest of the afternoon, Hallie bounced around from the playmate to the Jolly Jumper to the exersaucer, all while modelling her new safari hat. Some can pull it off and some can’t. This chick nailed it. Mommy spent the afternoon getting some sewing ready for the week, snacking on popcorn and making fresh lemonade. Nothing says the start of Spring like fresh lemonade. I can’t wait to get some pictures up of all of our fun baby creations too! Working with some fantastic prints, perfect for little babes. We ended the day trying out a piece of apple for the first time through one of these handy Nuby Baby Feeders. Another very exciting moment for both of us. She kept making the funniest faces! These days are beyond awesome and I get very emotional thinking about when they will be fewer and farther between…. Such a sap aren’t I?! I hope you are having a great week and I am crossing my fingers for better weather – we are getting real sick of the Vancouver rain here!
