Canada Day BBQ Planning

Canada Day is almost here! Every year I say we are going to have a big party (much like Cinco de Mayo) and every year time sort of gets away with me. Plus a lot of people take vacations this week every year too so I am not so sure we would even get a big turnout if we went to the effort of planning something big. Regardless, I like to get festive on the actual holiday and that means having some fun with food! It also means being outside and enjoying this ridiculous heat wave. Summer fun all the way! If only the baby pool was a bit bigger.

I have compiled some favourites that will be present at our BBQ this Wednesday. We have a few friends coming by, two of which are preggo. These two hot momma-to-be’s ensure that my mini poutine will be a big hit!

This year I plan on doing a patterned bunting banner instead of your regular Canada flag one. I love the contrast of gingham, colds and stripes with this selection. Nothing says a party without some good ol’fashioned striped straws either. Pop them into a small mason jar and you are good to go. Luckily for this Red Velvet cake lover, the color ties in perfectly with this red themed holiday. Whether I do cupcakes or an actual cake, it will absolutely be red velvet! We must also keep our guests hydrated with these Canadian go-to bevies: Caesars and Kokanee Beer! It doesn’t get much more Canadian than that folks! Happy planning =)
